Dr. Anthony Youn, author of The Age Fix, shared that it really is about nutrition – and how sugar, salt and trans fat can cause inflammation in the body that can help us look older. His explanation made a lot of sense. He said as we eat sugar (which is in about everything – including packaged foods and starchy carbs) our body constantly readjusts the insulin. This up and down movement can cause inflammation in our body. If we do eat sugar, eat it with fiber, protein and fat but never alone.
Regarding salt, much of the salt we take in is in processed foods, canned foods, restaurant foods, and fast foods. When we cook at home that helps. We can use spices other than salt, such as cinnamon, oregano, curry powder, cumin, thyme, rosemary, sage, and turmeric to season our foods.
