5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF YOGA

Yoga: Because everyone loves a good stretch! When we usually talk about yoga, it’s in a very general context but, there are several types of yoga that differ from each other while still holding true to the core purpose.

Yoga is a series of stretches and poses that require your mental, physical, and spiritual presence. It originated in India and has since become very popular everywhere as a form of relaxation, clarity, healing, and exercise for all. Yoga’s main goals and purpose are to create a peaceful mind, be in the present, learning how to breathe, flexibility, and connecting to yourself and whatever power you believe in (Mother Nature, God, yourself, etc.).

  1. Hatha

Hatha yoga is slow-paced and focuses on breathing and meditation. This type of yoga is great for beginners and those who want to know the basics of the yoga practice.

     2. Vinyasa

Vinyasa is very similar to Hatha yoga as it focuses on breathing and basic poses but in addition, it emphasizes on the Sun Salutation, a series of 12 poses where movement is matched to the breath.

    3.    Ashtanga

This type of yoga is more fast-paced and includes lunges and push-ups. It is used for stress-relief and flexibility, as well as strength and weight loss.

  1.       Iyengar

Iyengar is similar to ashtanga but also focuses a lot on body alignment. Props, such as straps and blocks, are used to strengthen and assist in certain poses. This is a great type of yoga for those who have injuries and balance issues.

  1.        Bikram

This is also known as hot yoga. Bikram is practiced in a 95 to 100 degree room. It’s a series of poses that loosens tight muscles and releasing toxins from the body through sweating. This type of yoga can be done by beginners or advanced yogis. It is more intense because of the heat though, so be ready for a challenge.
Each person’s body is different but we all need the same thing when it comes to proper exercise, healing, breathing, and nutrition. Try out these different types of yoga and see which best suits you.
