T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study, was interviewed during the Vegetarian Summerfest, in the movie, Veducated. He has a degree in nutritional biochemistry and has been a Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. He was part of one of the most comprehensive nutritional studies ever conducted (over 20 years) where he teamed up with British and Chinese researchers and they studied 65 countries in rural China, and over 6500 people. They watched what they ate and how they lived and what the relationship was between diet and disease. The places they studied, when they began, were one of the places that still had mostly a plant based diet. What they noticed is that as the food supply included more animal products, blood cholesterol levels began going up, cancer and heart disease began to appear. They felt the meat and diary connection to disease seemed to be confirmed over and over again. They discovered that a healthy low fat vegan diet prevented diabetes better than the Standard American Diet and medication.
