Science Behind Food Cravings

I first learned about “food addictions” from Dr. Luca-Moretti, who created the SuperAmino23, a high vegan protein with 99% efficiency. I was surprised to learn that about 50 years ago, someone discovered that the perfect combination of fat, sugar, and salt overrode the “automatic turn-off” in the brain when we are full. I decided to do some more research on “The Science of Addictive Food.”

According to a program done on CBC in Toronto by Kelly Crowe, where various experts were interviewed, there were many surprises. We will explore those this week.

In summary, there is an industry called food engineering where the desire is to find the perfect combination of salt, sugar, and fat. Much chemistry, physics, and biology goes into making “profitable food.” Authors, neuroscientists, marketing consultants, and college professors were interviewed and share concepts such as “sensory specific satiety” and “vanishing caloric density.” Continue to follow our blog this week to learn more and/or watch the video, Simply Irresistible.

Interestingly enough, after doing the transformation, which included the SuperAmino23’s, my addiction to diet coke was broken.
